About Petroleum Development Oman (PDO):
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is the Sultanate’s leading exploration and production business. More than 70% of the country’s crude oil output and practically all of its natural gas supply is produced by us. The company is 60 percent controlled by the Sultanate of Oman, 34 percent by Royal Dutch Shell, 4 percent by Total, and 4 percent by Partex (2 percent ). In 1962, the first economically viable oil discovery was found, and the first oil cargo was shipped in 1967.
PDO operates across a concession area of around 100,000 km2 (almost one-third of Oman’s geographical area), with approximately 130 producing fields, close to 6,000 producing wells, a diversified staff of nearly 8,000 employees representing 64 nationalities, and over 45,000 contractors.
